The 10 producers who registered the most Angus beef cattle in the state of Michigan recorded a total of 339 Angus with the American Angus Association® during fiscal year 2013, which ended Sept. 30, according to Bryce Schumann, Association chief executive officer.
The 10 top recorders in Michigan are: Danielle E Foster, Niles, 47-head; Dow Livestock Acres, Mulliken, 44; Douglas & Amanda Powell, Ionia, 40; Kevin Beckington, Merritt, 34; Voogt Farms, Marne, 33-head; Butternut Ridge Farms, Coldwater, 32; Dawson Farms, Concord, 32; Michigan State University, East Lansing, 28; Phil & Lisa Tuggle, Ithaca, 26-head; Seldom Rest Farms, Niles, 23.
Angus breeders across the nation in 2013 registered 288,822 head of Angus cattle. “Our year-end statistics continue to demonstrate strong demand for Angus genetics and solidify our long-held position as a leader in the beef cattle industry,” Schumann says. “These results underscore our members’ commitment to providing genetic solutions to the beef cattle industry.”
