A nice crowd was on hand at the Springville Feeder Auction on Saturday, October 20 for the 70th IBEP Bull Sale held in conjunction with the Springville Feeder Auction Association’s Heifer and Cow Sale. About 130 buyers from Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky registered for the combined sale
Bulls were in high demand and bidding was brisk. The sale average was $2,941, which is higher than last spring’s record-breaking sale, and all bulls sold. Auctioneer Mike Berger, Bremen, IN topped the sale with the second bull in the ring.
Angus #86 topped the sale at $4,700. He was consigned by Bordner Farms, Sturgis, MI and was sired by SS Incentive 9J17. He had a Performance Index of 109.0 with a Carcass Merit Index of 124.0. A second bull from Bordner Farms, Angus #87, also sired by SS Incentive 9J17, sold for $3,700.
KB Farms LLC, Merritt, MI had two bulls in the sale. Angus #80 sold for $4,250 and Angus #81 sold for $4,000; both were sired by LCC New Standard.
There were several other high-selling Angus bulls. Angus #85 from Dow Livestock Acres, Mulliken, MI sold for $4,000. He was sired by Hoover Dam.
Of the 29 bulls offered, all sold for an average of $2,941. This was the highest sale average of 46 sales held at Springville. Bulls were purchased by 24 individuals from two states. One bull went to an internet buyer. Twenty-eight bulls were sold to Indiana buyers and one to Illinois.
