Leaving a Legacy
2017 was an exciting year for the Michigan Angus Auxiliary. In celebration of our 50th anniversary, the auxiliary has contributed $12,500 to the Angus Foundation to fund the Michigan Angus Auxiliary Scholarship & Educational Awards Endowment Fund. The endowment fund will create an annual educational scholarship for a Michigan Angus youth. Beginning in 2019, the scholarship amount will vary each year depending upon the number of applicants, but can be used toward an undergraduate degree at a college, university or technical school or graduate school program. The fund will also support a $100 scholarship given annually to the Michigan Angus Queen to offset costs involved with promoting the Angus breed throughout Michigan.
Thank you to the men and women who have continually supported the Auxiliary and allowed for such a lasting impact to take place. This special award would not have been feasible without the generous donations over the years including Auxie heifers and other sale donations and contributions. The Michigan Angus Auxiliary hopes to continue to grow the fund to support even more Michigan youth.

Ambassadors who will assist the Queen. All candidates submit an application with a short essay and will be interviewed. The 2018 Queen will be crowned at the Awards Banquet on
March 3. Applications are due February 1. Contact Ricka Boehmer at 517-719-3158 for more information.

Our association continues to grow through new activities and members. Thank you to the members who attended our special art event at the Angus Field Day held at Lutchka Angus. The activity would not have been possible without our creative Vice President, Rachael Vaassen. Thank you to both Lutchka’s and Rachael, for hosting such a fun summer event.
If you are interested in becoming involved in our activities, contact Julie Conover 734-260-8635 or Sharon Vaassen 734-663-8071.
