2010 Michigan Angus Preview Show
Thirty-nine head of Angus cattle were exhibited at the 2010 Michigan Angus Preview Show held June 13 at the Michigan State University Pavilion. The Grand Champion Bull in the Open Show was TJ Foresight 915 exhibited by Tammy Klink-Frankovich from Rapid River. The Reserve Grand Champion Bull in the Open Show was also the Champion Jr. Show Bull, BAF Final Answer 003 exhibited by Hope Bordner from Sturgis. The Reserve Grand Champion Jr. Show Bull was BAF Fast Break 924W shown by Drew Bordner from Sturgis.

The Grand Champion Female in the Junior and Open Preview Show was the Junior Heifer Champion, Seldom Rest BA Bardot 427, exhibited by Danielle Foster from Niles. This heifer was also selected as the Supreme Champion Female of all breeds, as well as the Junior Show Champion Bred and Owned Heifer. The Reserve Grand Champion Female in the Junior and Open Shows was the Sr. Heifer Calf Champion, Seldom Rest Georgina 9189, also exhibited by Danielle Foster. This heifer was also selected as the Reserve Champion Bred and Owned Heifer. The Champion Cow/Calf pair was BAF Gabau 878-807 and her bull calf owned by Hope Bordner from Sturgis. The Reserve Champion Cow/Calf pair was BAF Bonnie Lass 878-334-617 exhibited by Drew Bordner from Sturgis. Other division champions were Senior Heifer Calf Reserve Champion, Seldom Rest BF Bardot 9051, owned by Danielle Foster. The Intermediate Heifer Champion was Dameron Bardot 9142, exhibited by Tanner Lindorf from Niles. Reserve Intermediate Champion was PLV Erica 0479, exhibited by Patti Vaassen from Ann Arbor. The Reserve Junior Heifer Champion was BWAF Pride 901, shown by Chelsea Ruggles from Kingston. Dylan Kennedy from Nashville exhibited the Senior Heifer Champion, D&F Simply Forever 802.

The Champion Angus Steer was Dal-Den Gator II, exhibited by Katrina Klopfenstein from Galien. The Reserve Champion Angus Steer was Seldom Rest Zeke, exhibited by Dylan Kennedy from Nashville.

Showmanship classes were sponsored by the Michigan Angus Auxiliary. Champion Jr. Showman was Dylan Kennedy; Champion Intermediate Showman was Laryssa Bates from Sebewaing; Champion Sr. Showman was Patti Vaassen; and Erika Boehmer from Charlotte and Drew Bordner were selected to represent Michigan in the National Jr. Angus Showmanship Contest.

2010 MI Beef Expo/Michigan Angus Futurity Results
14 bulls and 14 females sold in the 2010 Michigan Angus Futurity at the Beef Expo. The 28 lots averaged $2,027. The Champion Angus Bull and Supreme Champion Overall was consigned by Michigan State University and was purchased by Monte Bordner from Sturgis, Michigan for $4,000. The Champion Angus Female was consigned by Sterling Hunter from Bath, Michigan and Zelinko Brothers from St. Charles, Michigan purchased the female for $3250. The Reserve Angus Bull was exhibited by Vaassen Angus Farm from Ann Arbor, Michigan and Kyle and Clint Tillotson from Adrian, Michigan purchased the bull for $2500. The Reserve Champion Angus Female was exhibited by Rains Angus from Mercer, Pennsylvania and she was purchased by Brenda Bigelow from Traverse City, Michigan for $2800. Many thanks to all the consignors who brought out a good set of cattle and to all the buyers who supported the sale.

MCA/MSU Bull Test Sale Results


The 2008 MCA Bull Test Sale was held on March 29th at Plank Farms. Sixty-five bulls sold for a total of $134,050 to average
$2,062.30. This was the third highest sale average in the 20 year history of the bull test sales. A high number of the bulls sold to repeat buyers from previous sales. Mark Sears, Horton, Michigan, became the volume buyer when he purchased 4 bulls.
