Welcome to the Michigan Angus Association website. We hope you find this website useful as it provides information on upcoming association events, our very active membership, our outstanding Michigan Angus Auxiliary, our nationally competitive Junior Association recent show and sale results and available Angus cattle in Michigan.

Our objective is to advance the Angus breed and to create opportunities for our membership to improve their success in the business.

This is one of the most exciting times of the year! Calving season has or will soon begin, the Spring sales and shows are coming up soon, and the MAA annual meeting is just around the corner. The annual meeting and banquet will be held on Sunday, March 14th so make your banquet reservations now. Information and a reservation form can be downloaded I the newsletter.

The 2010 MCA/MSU Performance Bull Test Sale will be held on March 20th at the Bull Test Station in Crystal, Michigan. The Michigan Beef Expo will be held April 9th and 10th at the MSU Pavilion in East Lansing. Twenty – three Angus bulls and 17 females have been consigned to the Futurity Show and Sale held in conjunction with the Expo. The show will begin at 12:30 p.m. on the 9th and the sale begins at 10a.m. on the 10th. These two events promise to have outstanding sets of Angus seed stock available and offer opportunities to renew acquaintances and meet new breeders as well.

Congratulations to our Miss Michigan Angus, Hope Bordner, for being the lucky winner in the Michigan Cattlemen’s Association Youth drawing which took place at the 2009 Winter Beef Classic Show on the MSU campus in December. Hope won one year’s free use of a livestock trailer provided by Eby Trailer and Burnips Equipment.

Your Michigan Angus Association Board of Directors met in January. There was discussion on genetic testing of sale animals. The board passed a motion that “All potential AM and NH carriers that are on the American Angus Association potential carrier report must be tested for all Michigan Angus Association sales at the cost of the consignor, and if it is a carrier it will not sell.”

If you have questions, suggestions or are interested in association membership, please feel free to contact myself at reidch@msu.edu.

Thank you for visiting the Michigan Angus Association website and let us know where we can help!

Chuck Reid, President
